Controls Programmer (HVAC / BAS) - Job Opening

St. Louis, MO - This is a full-time office and field-based position (includes a very good salary and benefits package).

Using company software tools and procedures, this candidate will be expected to program controllers, integrate to third party systems, create graphics, and execute functional performance testing for commissioning agents on our Building Automation Systems (BAS) to meet contractual requirements and project goals for educational, commercial and industrial facilities. It would include development of graphical user interfaces and commissioning of projects.

Job Duties

  • The position will require both in office support and jobsite visits.

  • Programs and commissions local DDC and network controllers and the BAS front end computers per sequences of operation and contract documents.

  • Integrates to 3rd party systems/equipment such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus on

  • Chillers, Boilers, VFD’s, Generators, Rooftop Units (RTU’s), VRF’s, FAS, etc.

  • Provides onsite and offsite technical support during installation, start-up, commissioning and turnover processes.

  • Participates in onsite walk-throughs, formal commissioning and customer demonstration/ training on assigned projects.

  • Completes all project closeout documentation, including program backups and as-built drawings.


Qualifications / Experience:

  • BS Building Automation Systems, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, Associates Degree in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electronics or equivalent job experience in the controls industry.

  • 3+ years of experience programming BAS and integrating with third party equipment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced computer skills, including creating graphics for commercial BAS graphical user interfaces.

  • Solid knowledge and practical experience with Computer Networks and advanced knowledge and practical experience of BAS Networks.

  • Advanced knowledge of the controls concepts and strategies for commercial building HVAC mechanical systems.

  • Strong understanding of commercial building Mechanical and Electrical operations.

  • Understanding and practical experience with the Electrical and Electronics concepts associated with BAS Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC).

  • Experience programming the following product lines is preferred: Andover, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Tridium, and Niagara. Programming experience with other BAS platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to proficiently read Mechanical and Electrical blueprints.

  • Physical ability to walk construction sites, including stairs and ladders.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
